- The film starts with a flashback showing some of Alex's memories: particularlly, his capture by some hunter. After that, the plot return where the first movie left it: the animals deciding to return to New York. They board an airplane on Madagascar, but crashes in Africa, where each of the central characters meets others of the same species. Alex is reunited with his parents. Problems arise, as they don't know if they should go back or not.
